House rules and more

King is customer. With us, it should not matter what you are and who you are. A room or apartment at our resort is not cheap. A guest wants value for money, and we want a guest to have a great time with us. Our staff knows this and is tasked with providing the guest with a very pleasant stay. It is woven into the culture to do everything for each other, so especially for a guest. An enjoyable stay is therefore guaranteed. And this is all the more true for our employees. We, the management of the resort, ensure a pleasant stay during work; equality between everyone present in and around the resort.

We attach great importance to naming this because we are not a normal hotel. With us, guests and staff interact more intensely: Sports and games, music and dancing, snacks and drinks, athletic athletes and wonderful sweet staff, a whole week together at a balmy temperature……

We can’t write out the most important house rule in full, but we can summarize it: Respect!

The other and more concrete house rules:

  • No (domestic) animals in the resort; nowhere inside, nowhere outside.
  • Do not feed animals in and around the resort.
  • No smoking in the resort; nowhere inside, nowhere outside. There is a smoking area next to the resort.
  • Alcohol is permitted but will be refused if necessary.
  • Other drugs are not allowed (by right).
  • From closing time to opening time the bar is quiet so that everyone can sleep well.
  • Glass is not allowed on the sports fields.
  • Cometh the king; we will treat him as a customer.

Rules outside the resort:

Of course, we have no say in the rules outside the resort, but logically everyone is mindful of the environment.

Different from Europe:

Everyone uses transportation in the trunk of the car. This is officially prohibited, but still tolerated on Santo Antão. (It is not tolerated on São Vicente.)

A bared upper body in public is not allowed. Officially, you are also not allowed in shorts in city hall, bank, etcetera.

The police never have to act, but if they have to, things are different than in Western Europe.

Extradition treaties do not exist. Do you have an aggressive drink; stay home, or you might not come home for a while.
